5 Fun Facts About Hangtime at Knott's Berry Farm
We were invited as press to experience the opening of Hangtime at Knott's Berry Farm in order to facilitate this post.
In case you didn't hear, Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park opened it's latest coaster May 18th called Hangtime located within the Boardwalk section of the park. Utilizing the space once occupied by Boomerang, Hangtime uses a fairly small footprint but delivers a huge ride experience! The speed, twists and G force all might sound intimidating but the part that will have most crying for their momma is when the ride is at a complete stop. Get the facts about the ride, what makes it unique and boarding requirements on this latest thrill ride.
- Hangtime has a maximum speed of 57 MPH
- Rises 150 feet in the air
- Can accommodate 800 riders per hour
- Seats 16 per train running 2-3 trains at a single time
- Track length is 2,198
Other features that make Hangtime unique is it's the only Dive coaster on the West Coast. Construction started November 5, 2017 taking only 6 months to complete. Hangtime is officially categorized as an Infinity Coaster from Gerstlaue but it is being promoted as a "dive" coaster due to the holding brake that stops riders from the immense drop at the beginning of the ride for a few seconds (it feels a lot longer though) On HangTime you will experience 5 inversions, a batwing, a corkscrew and a cobra roll all without a shoulder restraint creating a feeling of weightlessness during the 1 minute 30 second ride. The attraction takes on a completely different feel and look at night with the dashing light package creating a "wave" effect that follows the train around the track.
- Fast Lane will be accepted at the ride as well as the Boarding Pass Program for guests with special needs.
- HangTime will have an on-ride photo at the end of the cobra roll and the FunPix station will be located at the Boardwalk Surf Shop near the ride exit. Downloadable photos will be available with your digital Funpix plan.
- HangTime has a minimum height requirement of 48 inches and a maximum height restriction of 77 inches.
- There is a 350 pound per seat average based on the overall restriction for the car, someone weighing more could still ride if they can fit in the seat safely. There is a lap bar and seat bely restraint system with no holder restraint.
My thoughts: It was only the second 'big" coaster I had ever experiences at Knott's (Excelerator was my first about an hour prior) My biggest doubt holding me back was the 150' 90* rise to the top. Decide best way to push through my fear was to I sit in the third room and just look to the side on the way up, everything after that was a rush! Would I ride it again, sure would!
