Anytime is a great time to go, but during Spring Break they are offering a great promo! The tournament chancellor welcoming the attendees

Arrive at the castle between a half hour to an hour before your show time to check in, grab a fun souvenir, a beverage if you are so inclined and take apart in the pre show ceremonies held in the great hall.

Line up at the designated door once instructed where you will be guided to your seating area in the arena by color of knight you will be cheering for. Now just sit back, cheer on your knight as they defend their land and the honor of their fairest princess while be served by charming and witty wenches and knaves.

The action is real, the horses beautiful and the food is literally finger licking good (eat with your hands).

Procession to kick off the tournament

It is kept fairly cool in the arena so bring a light sweater or jacket. Feel free to take all the pictures and video you like and share using Medieval Times hashtags #MTSpringBreak or #MTFan.

So here are some interesting facts about the dinner and tournament:

  • The average "life span" of a knight 5 about years, depending on the Knight.  Some start young and can do the job longer and like any professional sport, the job is very physically demanding.  Some have gone 10-15 years swinging a sword and jumping off horses.
  • Minimum age is 18 Y/O to become a knight
  • On average  500-1000 "Baby Dragons" are served per show
  • Last year there were more than 500,000 guests that attended the tournament
  • The arena is kept around 68 degrees for the horses
  • There are only stallions or geldings at the castles.  The mares are all
kept at the Medieval Times Ranch in Texas, 18 horses per show approximately.
  • The horses arrive at the castle at 3 years old.  Depending on how fast the
horse learns will determine when they enter the show. It can take up to 2 years or more.
  • As for injuries, nothing serious, the weapons used are real but they have no edges.  The swords
are made of titanium and the lances are made of wood.  The knights train constantly
to make sure even if something goes wrong they can adapt and keep each other
    safe.

Info on the "Ranking" within the knights that perform at the tournament:

Everyone starts out at the bottom, just like in the middle ages, earning their way to Knighthood. Squire position is the beginning, learning the horses, weapons, show, etc, they learn the basics of sword training with a stick, then graduating to a sword.

Apprentice Knights are next, learning how to fight, how to ride, joust, and fall. After they have proven their skills and endurance they become Knight I, this when they go into the Tournament and are officially a Knight for Medieval Times.

The rankings that follow are Knight II, Senior Knight I, Senior Knight II, and Senior Knight Speaking Role.  After that there is an Assistant Head Knight and Head Knight.
