Universal Studios Hollywood Launches “Running Universal,” a Series of Fun Runs, Kicking Off with the Inaugural 5K Featuring Illumination’s Minions on Saturday, May 11 & 12 2019

Lights, Camera. RUN! This new 5K adventure begins at the Front Gate and Upper Lot of the Theme Park leading you to the Universal Backlot where you'll run past some of the most iconic film sets in Hollywood along the 3.1 mile course passing through some of the theme park’s immersive areas and attractions before winding their way along the historic backlot. Highlights along the way include the notorious Psycho House, the eerie War of the Worlds set and the colorful Who-ville backdrop from Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas.. Cross the finish line at the 5 Towers on Universal CityWalk™ where a spectacular party will be waiting with live music, food and post-race swag at CityWalk’s 5 Towers outdoor concert stage.
The inaugural Minion Run, featuring Illumination’s mischievous Minions from the popular “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” ride, invites participants ages five and older (of all experience levels) to wind their way around Universal Studios Hollywood and through parts of Universal Studios’ historic backlot, home of more than 8,000 movies and television shows. The run will give participants an unprecedented insider’s view of the Entertainment Capital of L.A. The program will begin at 6 a.m. both days and culminate at 7:30 a.m. with a memorable awards and closing ceremony.

Eligibility
You must be at least 5 years of age on race day to participate in the Running Universal 5K. Each participant must be able to complete the 5K on their own.
For everyone's safety, baby joggers, strollers, baby carriers, baby backpacks, skates, scooters, bicycles, skateboards, canes, crutches, walkers, walking sticks, and animals of any kind are prohibited from the course. Violators will be removed from the course and transported to the finish line area.
