Knott's Scary Farm 2016
Knott's Scary Farm: From the Fog it's Past, Present, and Future!
With the sole purpose of getting the latest scoop on Knott's Scary Farm, I attended ScareLA last weekend in Pasadena. This conference covers all that is frights, horror, Halloween and is the premiere event of the year to get the latest on films, mazes, make up, props and so much more. I was able to sit in during the Knott's Scary Farm presentation recanting the origins of Scary Farm as well as making a few announcements relating to this years haunt. Are you excited yet? Well here's what I found out, with more to be disclosed soon.
Since it's inception in 1973 Scary Farm has come a long way. With regards to it's size, amount of cast, length of run and the sheer dedication and planning involved. This immense focus is why it has become THE premiere haunt in Southern California and only continues to push the limits and raise the bar! From it's first year being a 3 night haunt that was set up in a month, it has morphed drastically over the years becoming a phenomenon that is enjoyed by thousands each year setting a precedence only few others can hope to achieve.
Here's what I learned during the Scary Farm presentation given by the Knott's historians themselves Erik Lynxwiler and Ted Dougherty along Jon Cooke explaining the ever morphing and ever so popular Special Ops maze.
This is what has been confirmed so far:
- Returning to Knott's Scary Farm this year is the legend herself Elvira mistress of the Dark with an all new Danse Macabre.
- Patient Zero Continues with an all new Black Ops Infected! Here is what is known so far. This maze will no longer be by reserve time. It will take place outside of Camp Snoopy in al newly constructed area (back lot) and will be a continuation of Patient Zero Story line. One shot kill instead of three and groups (you and me) will be smaller this time around. Oh and there is a major kill to be had at the end of the maze aka Big Fugly! This maze will be handicap friendly and Front of the line pass will be available.
- Paranormal INC.will return with a few additions within the maze.
- NEW! 4 standalone Skeleton Key Rooms independent from mazes and based on original concepts.
Additional confirmed Mazes and scare zones:
The Tooth Fairy
The Green Witch and her Deadly 7
Voodoo
