Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar Spring Seasonal Offerings
Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar Spring Seasonal Offerings
We recently sampled the new seasonal menu offerings at Lazy Dog Restaurant while learning about this restaurant chain that is fast approaching 30 locations. What I discovered gave me a better appreciation for the food, the company and how much dedication goes into this brand while providing an experience that is far from one you would expect from a "chain". If you have never dined at a Lazy Dog Restaurant, the care that goes into the selection of the ingredients compares to any stand alone boutique eatery, it's very impressive. From locally and sustainable sourced ingredients to the hand made sauces made fresh daily in house, there is a ton of effort put into every dish.
Corn, meh but Street Corn Wheels, whoa! These bad boys are char grilled and then cut it down to wheels, served with a squeeze of lime, garlic, queso blanco, Tajin and fresh cilantro. This appetizer is so good, you might not be willing to share.
Their daily Chicken Tortilla Soup is really good but this Slow-cooked Lentil Soup with onions, celery, carrots, tomatoes, garlic, bay leaves, coriander, thyme, curry crema had me wishing it too was a staple on the menu and not just a seasonal offering. Above is a "cup" which is very generous and filling.
Beets! You either love them or hate them. I for one LOVE them and this salad was really good and is perfect for sharing. Burrata + Roasted Beet Salad combines creamy burrata cheese, field greens, candied walnuts, heirloom tomatoes, crushed sweet peaches and a dash of sea salt. They also have a Burrata + Heirloom Tomato Crisp that uses pomodoro sauce, pesto, creamy burrata cheese, parmesan, romano, balsamic reduction, chili oil, fresh basil which would make the perfect pairing for a light lunch.
Looking for something a little more filling, the Grilled Lemon Chicken is a marinated + grilled boneless chicken breasts served with cauliflower mash, sautéed green beans, heirloom tomatoes, almond-walnut crumble, tahini sauce on the side. The mash was beyond amazing.
You gotta save room for dessert! Their new handmade Peach + Raspberry hand pie is made from scratch daily, baked to order and served with a big ol' scoop of their vanilla bean ice cream. I'm a sucker for pie crust so this was a no brainer pick for me.
Gluten not your friend? They have you covered with this! Lemon Cake with lemon buttercream, almond flour vanilla cake, huckleberry, lemon curd, whipped cream. Again all of their plates are easily shared due to the portion sizes and your don't have to be gluten intolerant to enjoy this!
So how did we discover Lazy Dog Restaurants? Funny but true story really. Ever since my girl was a baby we took her out to eat and she was always the best behaved child. Autism always finds a way to throw a wrench into the mix and so started her phobia of ceiling fans and our quest to find a local eatery where none were within her eye sight (amazing how many places have fans when it's an issue). Enter Last Dog. Even though they did have fans they were outside on the patio so we made Lazy Dog part of out dining rotation. Since then she has conquered her issue with fans and we enjoy eating on the patio now as opposed to inside.
Did you know? Your four legged furry kids are welcome too! Lazy Dog is dog friendly, so if your Fido is well behaved feel free to bring him along and enjoy a meal outside in their patio. They only ask that you follow a few simple rules for the enjoyment of all.
