Pixar Pier Coming to DCA Summer of 2018
Like it or not, as of January 8th the Paradise Pier of DCA as we knew it is a thing of the past. In it's place a newly themed Pixar Pier will emerge and I for one can not wait to see what the imagineers at Disney have come up with. Best part, one of our favorite rides will continue to make us scream but with an all new overlay. Read all the details via the Disney blog and check out the renderings. I wasn't on board for the TOT change but this, I think will be incredible!
Four new themed neighborhoods will include one inspired by “The Incredibles.” Here, the new Incredicoaster, permanently transformed from the attraction that was California Screamin’, will open with Pixar Pier this summer. This new experience will feature a mid-century-modern-style loading area, new character moments and a new look for the ride vehicles.
Already home to the pier is the popular Toy Story Mania! which will anchor the “Toy Story”-inspired neighborhood. Another one inspired by “Inside Out” will be found on the western side of the boardwalk and will welcome a new family-friendly attraction, scheduled to open at a later date.
The fourth neighborhood will be a celebration of many of your favorite Pixar stories. In this neighborhood, Mickey’s Fun Wheel will have a new look, with each of the 24 gondolas featuring different Pixar characters and the iconic face of Mickey Mouse remaining on the Paradise Bay side of the wheel. At the Games of the Boardwalk, which already includes the Bullseye Stallion Stampede game, all of the midway games will be inspired by Pixar characters. Mickey’s Fun Wheel, Games of the Boardwalk and Sideshow Shirts.
Ariel’s Grotto restaurant and the Cove Bar will be transformed into a new lounge and grill offering sparkling views of Paradise Bay and the new Pixar Pier. The Cove Bar will reopening briefly along with the pier for a limited time during Pixar Fest on April 13 before closing again for its permanent transformation. The Sunset Showcase Theater in Hollywood Land will host the Pixar Shorts film festival, featuring rotating favorites like For the Birds and Lava throughout most of Pixar Fest. Over in Paradise Gardens, check out a new Pixar-themed musical troupe and Pixar character greeting opportunities.
If that all wasn't enough Check out Pixar over in Disneyland too!
Pixar Fest starting April 13, 2018 will feature the debut of an all-new fireworks spectacular, Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular. Celebrate friendship during an emotional journey through our favorite Pixar pairings, while immersed in dazzling pyrotechnics, memorable music, and projections on Sleeping Beauty Castle, the water screens of the Rivers of America, the façade of it’s a small world, and the buildings of Main Street, U.S.A. Plus, Buzz Lightyear will take flight over Sleeping Beauty Castle for the first time!
Pixar Play Parade makes its way to Disneyland park with new elements including the iconic Pixar lamp, characters from Up and Inside Out, while Paint the Night heads to Disney California Adventure park. In addition to favorite stories Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., and Cars, another Pixar story will join Paint the Night later in the year. I for one can't wait to experience it all!
