Real Snow, Real Science, Real Fun! Winter WonderFest Discovery Cube OC
Real Snow, Real Science, Real Fun! Winter WonderFest at The Discovery Cube OC
We were invited to the sneak peek at The Discovery Cube, all opinions are my own.
It's Here! Snow has come to So Cal and you don't need to drive to the local mountains for your fill of the white fluffy stuff. So grab your gloves, boots, a jacket and head down to the Cube in the OC for a fun filled time of tubing, sledding and playing in the frozen stuff. Chains NOT required, kids optional.
Winter Wonderfest Opens December 19th and runs through January 3rd. Activities include snow tubing, sledding, a snow play area and more. And as you would expect at the Discovery Cube, learn the science behind it all.
Ice Tubing: This is the taller tubing run 70 feet in length. The shorter one is just along side it with each offering 2 lanes. I would suggest getting on this first thing to avoid the lines.
Snow Sledding: There are 2 areas, one for the 5 and under group and another for the bigger kids. Parents chill out and have a snack at one of the food trucks or grab a cup of hot joe while the littles frolic and play all within eyes shot.
Children 5 and under have areas set aside for play, sledding and Cube Jr. Snow Science. Have a master builder? Let them loose in the Build Your Own Ski ramp area with use of various materials learning the principles of gravity.
Admission or a valid Membership to Discovery Cube is required in addition to the ticket for the Wonderfest activities which is just $5 more. Open daily from 10am till 5pm, check site for details and to get your tickets in advance. There is no age requirement to enter Winter Wonderfest, however all guests 3 and over need a ticket.
Height Requirements:
Snow Tubing: 44”
Snow Sledding: 40”
Younger guests can take part in activities such as smaller snow and sled ramps.
While at the Cube for the fun snow activities make sure to explore the current exhibit the Science of Gingerbread in it's 10th year. Take in all the yummy smells of the over 200 award-winning Gingerbread Competition entries as you learn the science behind it all. Make a gingerbread derby racer, decorate cookies and enjoy yourself while learning at the Science of Snow stage. Exhibit open now through January 3rd.Oh and one more thing, Santa will be visiting December 19th thru the 24th. Ho Ho Ho!
