A Year round Destination full of sun and fun for the entire family

Looking for a quick getaway filled with fun, amazing food and to be pampered at every turn? Look no further than a quick 2 hour flight to Cabo San Lucas where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific. We try to visit once a year and it's always a fun and relaxing time.

Let me just give you a bit of advise if you are planning a vacation in Cabo and have never been before.

• Try to set up a rental car ahead of time if you plan on exploring, are staying between San Juan and Los Cabos or traveling with a group of 4-5. Depending on the season you can get a great deal and have the freedom to go where ever you want without hailing a taxi which can be costly since the main town and resorts can be up to a 30 min drive away. Also check your credit card for insurance coverage, it can add a substantial amount to your rental car bill if you opt for theirs.
• When arriving at the airport and after getting your bags/going thru customs, do not stop for the timeshare people! They will waste not only your time but convince you to sign up for a timeshare tour. Walk out like you live there and don't listen to any of them. If you are interested in a timeshare, you can always contact the resort you are interested in and they normally will comp your stay and more! 
• If staying at a resort they may have a shuttle service for you, if that's the route you are taking be sure to set it up before hand.
• Most places accept dollars but the exchange rate will be a little less than the "actual" rate.
• The weather is for the most part is always nice and warm and during the summer July - September it can be down right hot (over 100*) . Best time to visit October thru June.
• The Mexican Peso is super weak right now making mexico a great option. The rate as of 5/17/16 is 17.50 to every Dollar. It has never been a better time to travel at these rates.
• If you can, always look into flying out of Tijuana! This is why. It's normally cheaper, up to 50% if you plan it right (we fly Volaris), kids are half price and since it's not an international flight pre boarding waiting next to nothing. An hour before your flight is normally plenty of time to check in and board. The airport in Tijuana is very clean, recently remodeled and very easy to navigate. FYI:  You will need to get a tourist card, or FMM which runs about $20 a person and lasts for 180 days (Only needed if traveling by air)  Also you will need your passport.
• How much time is enough in Cabo? We normally stay Thursday thru Sunday. Below is a sample of what to do and see while there.

Your hotel can normally help you make all you outside activities arrangements and can save you money on them as well. Our Hotel, Fiesta Americana has a concierge service that has all the excursions info, the more activities you book the better discount normally. (around 15% - 20% on average) 

Cabo can be a bit expensive, so be prepared but since the dollar is so strong right now is a great time to visit and save. An all Inclusive resort might be the way to go if you like to drink and don't want to leave the property. We have gone both routes and found it to be a huge savings. 

List of just some of the activities:

Glass bottom boat ride to the arch: You can negotiate with the locals right on the loading dock, costs about $15-$18 dollars a person round trip. Feel free to take snacks and beverages along with you as the trip can take up to an hour or more. If you want to be let off at any of the beaches on the way to the arch, they will come back around for you. There are great snorkeling places so if that's your thing take your gear. There are also jet ski rentals on the beach available.

Swimming with the dolphins: There are 2 locations, one at the Marina and one north heading towards San Juan. There are several different experiences to be had from just feeding and touching the dolphins to full on swimming, diving or even training them. Pictures are hard to take from the viewing area but they sell packages as well as a disk if you like. Prices start at about $110 per person.

Dinner boats: we did this once before our little girl came into the picture. It was a party boat of sorts, with a meal and drinks. Not really our thing now but fun to try at least once.

Of course Cabo is famous for it's sports fishing, never done it but if you like to fish, this is the place. Get lucky and catch something, many of the restaurants will cook it up for you right on the beach front!

Swimming in ocean is very limited in Cabo, the waves are rough and the shore line is full of coral and rocks. There are areas great for snorkeling but if you want to swim, I'd stick to the resort pools.

There are off roading excursions with jeeps and quads, camel rides, and a horseback riding as well. The spas are pretty amazing in Cabo and many resorts offer couples massages right on the beach or as in the case of our resort private cabana rentals with your own butler, loaded fire pit and stocked with water and magazines. 

What we love about Cabo? The amazing sun rises, the clear warm waters and the amazing hospitality we get at our resort. The food is amazing, the drinks cold and the grind of our normal daily lives is washed away hours upon arrival. Driving is very easy in Cabo as it has a main road into and out of the downtown/marina area. They have all the modern stores we are all familiar with and most locals speak English. You will find Costco and Walmart for anything you may need. The marina has a shopping mall for souvenirs and local clothing as well. 

A few of the regular tourist traps are The Hard Rock Cafe and Cabo Wabo if you are feeling the need to party with other tourists. We prefer to stay back at our resort, hang around the fogata and listen to live music while being relaxed by the ocean waves under the amazing star filled skies.
