Tips on Viewing the Disneyland Main Street Electrical Parade
It was beyond magical and better than ever! The Main Street Electrical Parade is back in a big way but only for a limited time sadly. It's funny how something can take you back in time, visiting a childhood favorite like Disneyland can do that to some but the return of their iconic Main Street Electric Parade well, it's a guarantee you will feel like a carefree kid again and maybe get a little misty eyed in the process!
Welcome home! Back where it all began, this parade seen by millions is home again in Anaheim and has been extended till August 20th. Since it is going to be such a draw, expect the parade routes to be beyond slammed. I just saw it and it literally brought tears to my eyes, happy tears! If you haven't had a chance to get to Disneyland to see it yet, enjoy the photos I gathered during the 20+ minute parade below, learn some interesting facts and take a moment to read the different options in securing the best viewing areas if you are planning on seeing the parade.
- Handicap areas: If you are wheelchair bound or have a stroller as a wheelchair, there are a couple of areas set aside for viewing the parade. I'd say get to one of them at least 90 minutes before the parades scheduled time.
- Parade Route Open Seating: All along the parade route you are welcome to grab a spot, it's on a first come first served basis. Many will steak out a spot by leaving a blanket or have a person from their party hold it. Either way, it gets filled fast and way beyond the parade starting time so plan ahead. Spots were being held 2+ hours in advance of the parade start time.
- Reserved Seating: A great option is Disneyland's Main Street Electrical Parade On-The-Go packages and they offer AP Discounts. Here are the 2 you can choose from and what they include:
- Aladin's Oasis: Choose from 3 different meals for adults at a cost of $26 it includes your main entree (chicken Breast, Lasagna or vegetarian lasagna and comes with a beverage, green salad, roll and cheese cake PLUS reserved seating.
- Blue Bayou Cafe: Enjoy a 3 course meal for $65 per adult/$25 per child 3-9 under the star filled sky before catching the parade in front of the of Penny Arcade on Main Street.
A few fun facts about the Main Street Electrical Parade:
- This is the 45th year of the parade which made it's debut in 1972
- The Parade was inspired by Walt Disney Worlds Electric Water Pageant from 1971 and is still performed to this day.
- The Main Street Electrical Parade has 80 performers
- 600,000 sparkling lights

I know it can be a huge cost for a family to just walking through the doors at Disneyland but if you were planning on visiting this might just be the best time before the parade is gone! We had an amazing evening watching the parade and hope to catch it one last time, do you have plans to see it soon?
