Join Pretend City for a special event that provides a sensitive environment for our neurodiverse community including children on the Autism Spectrum, as well as children with disabilities, and their families. With the help of their community play partners, and Pretend City’s experienced and educated team, discover different activities while exploring the museum and learning to interact with peers.
Purpose Behind the Play: Personal social interaction, fine motor skills, creative thinking, executive function, sensory stimulation, and musical expression.
Time: 5:00p.m.-7:30 p.m.
Art Studio Sessions(5-7:30pm): Join us in the Art Studio as we explore how music can inspire us to create! Whether its paining to classical music or making their own music while shaking our jingle bell-filled bins, your child is sure to create a masterpiece during this music-themed art session!
Musical Circle Time (6:30pm): Makes some music and sing along with us during a sensory-engaging circle time all about music and rhythm! Did you know that music can greatly contribute to a child’s cognitive and sensory exploration? We hope to see you there!
Specifically for: Families with children of all ages who are on the autism spectrum or have a disability, as well as therapists and behavioral coaches.
This special evening is an opportunity for children and their parents/siblings/caretakers to have some fun in an autism-friendly environment along with other families. Many of our community partners, who specialize in supporting children on the autism spectrum, will be on-hand to enrich your family’s play experience with welcoming smiles and practical support.
