It’s never easy trying to pull one over on my daughter! She has always wanted a surprise party and is always asking to go back to Great Wolf Lodge. So I decided to make both those request happen for her 11th birthday. With little effort on my part, which was a relief since school just got back into session, this years Birthday celebration was a hit!
Thinking of staying overnight at the lodge, well lucky you! There are several options for making your child’s birthday a little more wolf-tactic at Great Wolf Lodge and one even if you are not staying overnight. Check out these add on’s that offer ease in ordering so you will have one less thing to do giving you more time to spend with the family!

1.5 hour lunch at a designated birthday space and time

Water park passes (1 per guest with access from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the day of the party)

$75.00 + tax and gratuity per person 3-years old and over/ Children two and under are free
Here’s a little more you will need to know:
Minimum 10 people/Maximum 20 people~ 1 to 4 adult to child ratio
All guests 3-years old and over must have wristbands to enter water park
Must be booked a minimum of one week in advance, but no further than ten weeks
before event with a $100 nonrefundable deposit required at the time of booking (deposit applied toward party balance) Deposit is nonrefundable but may move date of party (according to availability) with no penalty.
Remaining balance due 72 hours prior to party date.
Credit card may be left at time of check-in to cover any additional packages that may be purchased during the day – this is not mandatory.
Self parking is $10/day per vehicle for non-overnight guests.

Check in starts at 1pm. At this point you will be given wrist bands that serve several purposes.
It acts as your room key so that’s one less thing to worry about carrying.
It can be linked to a credit card so you can make purchases at the restaurants and shops. (don’t worry, only the adults bands are linked unless you want your kids linked as well)
Grants you access to the water park
It works as your exit and re-entrance “key” to the parking structure during your stay.
Most rooms are ready by 4pm so you have the option to check in your luggage at the bell check and head off to the water park, go play in the arcade, grab a bite to eat, take on the MagiQuest or checkout the entertainment scheduled. In some cases your room might just be ready, either way you will get a text message the moment it becomes available.
Wolf pack ears for everyone! And if you have a birthday, they get an extra special set of ears to alert everyone thats it’s a celebration!
Birthday packages for those staying overnight. Everything will be delivered to your room before you get there. Cake, balloons, birthday poster on the door and the rest of your packaged items (depending on the one you chose). Trust me, kids LOVE showing up to their room and seeing this!
Check out time is 11 am unless you have opted for a later check out. Here you are free to stay and play. Feel free to check your luggage at the bell check and return to the water park till closing if you wish which is at 8pm. They even have a refrigerator to keep any perishables like left over birthday cake!

If you can, opt for a cabana. Here’s why I recommend one: No need to worry about finding a chair or where to leave your belongings. Plus it's a great place to take a break, enjoy lunch and always have a secure meeting place for the family. Cabana rentals start st $119 and include:

Little about our stay: We opted for the Wolf Den so the kids could have their own bunk beds and play with their wands within their “den”. MagiQuest is a fun way to explore the lodge taking you from the lower level into the upper levels of the hotel in search for gems and more! There are different quests and all vary in cost and time to complete. We had wands from our previous visit so all we had to do was purchase the game we wanted to play. Since we got the birthday package, we were set with game credits to play in the arcade.
We brought a cooler filled with drinks and even lunch to enjoy in our room with our birthday cake that was waiting for us.
For breakfast the girls filled up at the all you can eat buffet and at $9.99 it’s a great deal ($19.99 for adults)! It was a fun surprise seeing some of the Wolf pack characters make an appearance for pictures and a little dance party too.

Pros of having a birthday party/sleep over at Great Wolf Lodge. Keeping it small and meaningful. It’s not about how many guests you invite but the quality of time spent with them I feel. My daughter had 2 of her close friends join her and it was perfect! No mess and no fuss. I love that we had the run of the lodge and I didn’t have to worry about decorating, running to get a cake or arranging entertainment. Everyone under one roof made for a secure feeling and the den within the room gave the kids their space and the sleepovers they love to have. From the water park to the arcade to the restaurants, all you gotta do is get there making your time well used on enjoying it all. Would I do it again, absolutely!
