DIY Halloween Monster Party Favors
DIY Halloween Monster Party Favors
I attended a Halloween themed event a couple years back on the set of the Home and Family Show and I learned how to make a really cute Mummy candy favor holder. Since they were so easy and fun to make, I have made them every year since. Are you are looking for a fun and unique way to share your love of Halloween? This is a great way that's not only easy but the kids really love them!
I picked up everything I needed to make these not so scary monsters from my local Dollar store and Party City. I was looking to change it up from just Mummies this time around so I added more variety to the characters. Check out my Bat, Monster (or Frankenstein) and Mummy that can be used for candy or a non candy favor holders. Use them for your next party or kids school event.
What you will need:
Cups, I used colors that matched character
Toilet paper, Tissue paper, OR Paper Streamer
Wiggly Eyes
Excelsior Color of choice
Hot Glue Gun/Sticks
Favors of choice (candy or non candy)
Here's what you do:
Wrap cup in covering as shown below, secure with hot glue at start and end points.
Spread open covering enough to add wiggly eye or eyes (add a dab of hot glue).
For the bat I left out a few inches at start and end and cut wing shape out.
For the monster, I added pipe cleaners for brows and stitches.
Add excelsior to fill bottom of cup.
Fill with desired treats.
I will say, I prefer using toilet paper for the mummy cups as it has more padding, but you could also use gauze. The larger wiggle eyes look best too in my opinion. If you are thinking of making these for a large class or group, I suggest getting a couple parents in on making and chipping in on fillers, my girls class has 34 kids, now that's scary!
So what do you think, easy and fun right? Do your kids do anything special at school for Halloween? I'm looking forward to passing these out again to an entirely new class this year. Happy Halloween everyone!
