Glamping with KOA this Spring Break
Glamping with KOA this Spring Break
Spring break is almost here, what plans do you have? We are always running around between the local amusement parks and the beaches in Baja but have been looking to change it up this year. We used to camp out a lot BC (before child) during our trips to the desert to participate in off road racing events and with the family out in Joshua Tree. I'm a creature of comfort now and thinking the good old tent and air mattress is a thing of my past, but I still love disconnecting and stay outdoors. KOA is a perfect option for any level of camper and offers so many different accommodations, I for one am all about their deluxe cabin.
I have to admit camping in an RV or travel trailer is pretty sweet. Having all the creature comforts and only slightly roughing it is my ideal way to "camp". I was intrigued by all the amazing things to do at the KOA sites all with their campy themes and options for you to rough it in a tent to staying in a fully equipped cabin. If you are looking for a fun option this spring, check out what KOA offers below.
- Level Pull in/Pull out RV sites with power and other amenities
- Log Style Cabins with restrooms and showers near by
- Deluxe cabins will all the amenities including private bathrooms, kitchens and T.V's
- Unique accommodations such as teepee, a yurt, or real train caboose as well as cabin tents
- Safari tents, Family Tents ( cause you have to do it at least once) and BYO Tent sites
With several different options it's easy to choose your own adventure's in camping! There are nearly 500 locations nationwide so you are bound to find one near you or your planned destination. Oh and your furry family members aka dogs are welcome too! So how do you go about planning a stay at a KOA property? Here are some suggestions on planning your get a way:
- Determine where you want to stay and which type of accommodation you desire.
- Book early especially for stays during holidays and summer vacation.
- Contact the property either by phone, via their KOA app or the website.
- Be prepared to make a deposit to secure your reservation
- If you are flexible, Weekdays vs weekends will determine amount of cabins/types available
- Verify what your cabins amenities are before you book.
There are three kinds of KOAs for every kind of camping and reason for getting away. KOA Holiday, KOA Journey and KOA Resort.
Activities vary per location but include, crafts, biking, kayaking, swimming, zip lining, fishing as so much more.
When was the last time you slept under the stars? My girl has been wanting to camp for the last few years now, if you ask her why.... mainly because she loves making s'mores, priorities right. I am on board with staying in one of KOA's cabins for the simple fact that means I don't have to deal with renting an RV, load it up, clean it out and gassing it up all within a couple of days. Staying at a KOA property looks like a great option and having running water and a real bed sounds pretty doable to me. Happy camping everyone!
